Aha Integrated Somalia, Mogadishu In 2011, Where Around 600,000 Nationals Were Forced Into Destitute. Activities Undertaken By Aha Were Health Care, Water And Sanitation, Relief And Recovery. Through Its Water And Sanitation Programme, Aha Worked To Improve The Lives Of The Internally Displaced Populations. The Programme Targeted To Facilitate And Rehabilitate The Water System Of 12 Highly Vulnerable Communities And Banadir Hospital.
To This End, 20 Water Points Were Constructed, 20 Waste Pits Were Constructed In The Highly Congested Camps.
Aha Supported Various Trainings Of Community Members As Part Of Its Capacity Development Programme.
Emergency Interventions For Drought And War Affected Populations Continued In 2012. Health Needs To Internally Displaced Persons And Community Members That Were Deemed As Highly Vulnerable Were Addressed. The Relief And Recovery Programme Was Continued Supporting The Displaced And Vulnerable Communities. Through Its National Partner Hijra Somalia, Aha Provided Vaccinations, Vitamins, Food Supplements And Selective Feeding Inputs For 11,000 Infants And 2,500 Mothers. In Addition, Community Mobilization Efforts And Awareness Building Activities Were Incorporated Throughout The Project In Order To Enhance Existing Capacity And Foster Community Ownership.
The End Of 2012 Marked The End Of Aha’s Programmes In Somalia.
