An implementing partner of UNHCR since 2001, AHA Namibia has facilitated the proper implementation of health care service to the population of concern. AHA services in Namibia included curative and preventative health, referral, water and sanitation, nutritional rehabilitation, HIV/AIDS sensitization, health education and promotion, counseling, and voluntary repatriation in Osire and the Kassava transit camps, as well as emergency, health, nutrition and sanitation service in Mayukwayukwa settlement in the Kaoma District of the Western Province and Nyangweshi refugee camp.
After the handover of health care services in 2009, AHA in Namibia undertook shelter and logistics, community development, social service, water, sanitation and hygiene agroforestry, income-generating projects, youth education, and sports in the Osire settlement. AHA's agro-forestry income generating activity was also warmly welcomed by the Namibia's Ministry of Agriculture, who for the first time paved the way for AHA beneficiaries and the University of Namibia to work closely together on farming strategies.
In 2015, after the phase-out of UNHCR from Namibia, AHA, in coordination with the Commissionaire of Refugee office also took over most of the activities. The coordination and cooperation between UNHCR regional offices Pretoria and AHA were appreciated and described as cordial by UNHCR.
Our services in Namibia catered for refugees from DRC and Burundi. AHA Namibia has since provided services close to 200,000 refugees and host communities.

Namibia AHA started operation in 2001 with a focus on provision of health care services to refugees of DRC and Burundi. Our operation has since facilitated the proper implementation of health care service to the population of concern.
AHA has been implementing programmes including heath care, shelter, water sanitation, food security and community mobilization as well as voluntary repatriation. Until its handover of healthcare services to MoH in 2009, AHA provided and strengthened pyscho-social support to all persons of concern in settlement; SGBV victims were given counseling and referral services; ensured the number of refugee-women in decision making bodies is maintained at fifty percent (50%) and gave support and care to mentally challenged people, orphans and unaccompanied minors. AHA also provided shelter and ensured clean and healthy sanitation by constructing pit latrines.

It also branched out to Namibia after full responsibility of Osire Refugee Camp management was transferred to it by the UNHCR.
Following the transfer of the management of curative health care services of Osire refugee camp in May 2001, AHA started to give referral of patients to regional hospitals, ambulance transportation, and preventative medicines for over 23,000 refugees in Osire Camp. It also rendered its hand to refugees in Kassava and Onambutu camps in Windhock and other towns.
The 2002 AHA services included curative and preventative health, water and sanitation, nutritional rehabilitation, HIV/AIDS sensitization, health education and promotion, and counseling in Osire and the Kassava transit camps. With the help of Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) and UNHCR BO, AHA also met 90% of the set implementation targets. Repatriation assistance to Angolan and other African refugees in Ossire Refugee Camp and Kassava Transit camp.
AHA continued its emergency, health, nutrition and sanitation service to Mayukwayukwa settlement in the Kaoma District of the Western Province and expanded to Nyangweshi refugee camp in july 2001.
Expanding the services it provides, AHA added providing hygiene education, logistics, shelter building, food distribution and the development of social and community services apart from the comprehensive and preventative health, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, and health promotion in Osire refugee campand benefited 6,500 people. 2006 an extensive information, education, and communication campaign has resulted in no outbreaks of communicable diseases and fewer incidents of hospitalization.
AHA’s agro-forestry income generating activity was also warmly welcome by the Namibia’s Ministry of Agriculture, who for the first time paved the way for AHA beneficiaries and University of Namibia to work closely together on farming strategies. 2008

With the successful repatriation of Angolan refugees from the Osire settlements, AHA is also preparing to liquidate its operation in Namibia.2013
