Additionally, AHA has successfully undertaken an HIV/AIDS prevention project in five of the six settlements using funding from OPEC Fund for International Development through UNHCR. The project targeted 36,000 refugees and host communities. The project components included providing education on HIV/AIDS prevention and mitigation; training health staff and community members to improve skills and knowledge in management and prevention of HIV/AIDS cases; enhancing involvement of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in the fight against the pandemic; supporting and strengthening health delivery facilities to manage HIV interventions in an integrated manner; strengthening and enhancing the involvement of community based institutions active in HIV/AIDS interventions; enhancing inter-agency cooperation and collaborations amongst stakeholders in the fight against HIV & AIDS; and educating community members on SGBV.
