AHA at a joint field visit distributed hygiene, personal protection and medical equipment donated by UNHCR to the Governor of the Eastern Region on 30 April 2020. The donation was aimed at reinforcing the district hospital efforts in the fight against COVID- 19 covering five refugee settlement sites: Ngarissingo / Yokadouma, Lolo, mbile, timangolo and Gado.
The joint field visit attended by Secretary of State for Health in charge of epidemics and pandemics and UNHCR Representative highlighted East regions’ prevention and response measures. The health facilities visited includes : the regional hospital, Gado Site (quarantine and isolation facilities), CSI Gado, the Garoua boulai border crossing and the Garoua Boulai district hospital.
Since the outbreak, AHA is taking rigorous preventive measures through a series of activities including awareness raising session in East region and other operating areas. To date, AHA staff and CHWs have reached 52,344 households (refugees and nationals) via door-to-door awareness-raising sessions. AHA has also installed hand washing facilities with soap in all offices and provided a three day capacity building trainings to a total 46 healthcare providers and CHWs.
