The Summit reviewed the plan of action for 2010 – 2013 as well as the status of ratification and domestication of the Special Summit. AHA has been an active participant in the preparation of the documents for the Convention and has also attended the Kampala Summit where the above document was adopted. It was reported that 9 countries have endorsed the Convention; a minimum of 15 countries are required for the Convention to come into force.
Additionally, participants discussed the root causes of forced displacement in the Eastern and Central African Regions with a particular focus on DRC.
During his stay in Kinshasa, Mr. Chefeke met separately with the Regional Representative of UNHCR to review the past work and discuss the future of AHA in the DRC.
