AHA’s regional Rapid Response team members participated in two key trainings aimed at enhancing their capacity in Health Cluster Coordination & Information Management and Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE). These trainings will help the team’s ability to support various Local and National Non-Government Organizations in managing infectious disease outbreaks.
Program Update
In September 16-20, 2024, WHO organized Health Cluster Coordination and Information Management training sessions in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, where four team members engaged in a four-day interactive simulation exercise (SimEx). This training deepened their understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and limitations of the health cluster, covering its six core functions and all relevant components. The simulation exercise provided a real-time scenario to apply the concepts and knowledge acquired.
In September 30- October 5, 2024, READY Initiative organized an RCCE Outbreak Readiness for Major Outbreak Response in Juba, South Sudan where two team members participated in this five- day training, which focused on strengthening the technical and operational capacity to plan and implement RCCE plans and response during outbreaks. They were able to enhance their knowledge on different thematic such as social and behavioral change in outbreaks, data collection and analysis, community led engagement, developing effective messaging, managing uncertainty and rumors, multi-source listening, selecting RCCE interventions in major outbreak, etc… .The interactive exercise that is linked to an evolving outbreak scenario allowed the participants to apply the concepts they learned.
