The Forum convened 50 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to afford them the opportunity to input to the Bank’s updated CSO Engagement Framework. At the event, the Vice President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) emphasized the need for the bank to partner with CSOs to play a more efficient role in its member countries. On their part, CSO representatives stated that more transparency is needed in AfDB policies and operations for CSOs to assist in increasing the relevance of AfDB’s projects.
AfDB’s 2008-2012 Medium Term Strategy mandates enhanced collaboration between the Bank and CSOs based on recognition of the valuable contributions CSOs bring to the Bank’s strategic objectives.
AfDB and AHA signed a Memorandum of Understanding authenticating the two organizations’ partnership in addressing development priorities in AfDB Member Countries in 2009. AfDB is partner to AHA in development work in Somalia.
