Kotina came to Ethiopia 12 years ago and had been living in the Afar region for 9 years before he arrived at the Asayita camp. Kotina came to the camp with his wife and 3 children. By using materials from AHA and UNCHR and trading the surplus grains that he receives every month, Kotina has built two homes for his family to share and has bought several goats to provide milk that can be sold at the market. Kotina has also enrolled his children at the school through AHA and ARRA’s connection to the local primary school.
By providing supplies, information, and opportunities to refugees like Kotina and other members of vulnerable communities across its program areas in Africa, AHA has enabled thousands of people to participate in income generating activities and empowered them to make a difference in their own lives.
